Building Values

Program is designed for children, adolescents, youth, and adults who wish to join the basic education system and acquire skills to enter the labor market with the required competencies.

The family plays a key role in the value formation process. Schools also serve as “a medium for value formation, where educators must adopt an attitude of transmitting values, with the most important aspect being the coherence between what teachers say and what they do.”

Our goal is to develop the potential of learners under a moral and ethical dimension within the framework of their social reality, helping them interpret it so they can take responsibility for their actions and actively participate in their community life.

Our Resources

Our funding comes through project proposals, inter-institutional agreements, and collaborations with public and private institutions in the areas of early childhood, technical-professional, and family education, among others.

Our Actions

1. Technical-Vocational Training
   For low-income youth and adults who want to join the labor market with the skills required. The main training center is the Nuestra Señora de la Luz School in the Cienfuegos area.

2. Nuestra Señora de la Luz School
   Located in Santiago Oeste Municipal District (Cienfuegos), the Nuestra Señora de la Luz Technical Vocational School was founded in 2002 by Reverend Father Ramón Dubert.

   Initially, it offered computer and English courses sponsored by Cáritas Dominicana. Later, partnerships with the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP) expanded offerings to include technical training in electricity, accounting, secretarial work, and more. Currently, the partnership remains active, with additional courses introduced to benefit the community.

As an institution affiliated with the Catholic Church, the school has full legal standing under civil law, in accordance with Law No. 117 of 1931, ratified by Law No. 390 of 1943, and Article IV of the Concordat between the Holy See and the Dominican State, signed in July 1954.

Promoting Values

Through our programs, we aim to foster relationships among individuals and contribute to the well-being of the Cienfuegos community. Some of the values we strive to instill include solidarity, tolerance, respect, justice, dialogue, and peace.
