Adult Technical Training

Our Objective

Adults Technical School – Nuestra Señora de la Luz:
The Nuestra Señora de la Luz School in Santiago, Dominican Republic, is a free technical-vocational training institution for youth and adults.

Main Activities Include:

Technical training courses for youth and adults in residential and industrial electricity, accounting assistant, computer technology, office software packages, secretarial studies, medical sales representative, and pharmacy technician.
English courses.
Specialized workshops such as baking, targeted at women or other groups, promoting entrepreneurship.

Flexible schedules, including evening and Saturday classes, to accommodate working students or those with other responsibilities.

History:

The Nuestra Señora de la Luz Technical School, located in Santiago Oeste (Cienfuegos), was founded in 2002 by Reverend Father Ramón Dubert. Initially, it offered Computer and English courses sponsored by Caritas Dominicana.

Later, agreements with the National Institute for Technical Vocational Training (INFOTEP) were established to provide technical programs in electricity, accounting, secretarial work, and more. These agreements are ongoing, with additional courses added for community benefit.

As an institution affiliated with the Catholic Church, it has full legal standing in civil matters under Law No. 117 of 1931, ratified by Law No. 390 of 1943, and Article IV of the Concordat signed between the Holy See and the Dominican State in July 1954.

Values Education:

Promotes relationships with others and contributes to the general well-being of the Cienfuegos community in Santiago. Core values include solidarity, tolerance, respect, justice, dialogue, and peace.

Additional Program Benefits – “Entrepreneur and Create”:
Provides training, mentoring, follow-up, and small loans to entrepreneurs showing growth potential. Also supports groups in developing community organization skills and encourages those with creative or innovative business ideas.
